Oh yes, it's been awhile...

since I last updated my blog! I just started my sewing class last Thursday. I've already taken this specific sewing studio class 3 times. It's only $10 for 7 sessions, which are 3 hours each. The best part about the class is that they have loads of vintage patterns that are up for grabs! I've collected quite a few over the last 3 classes. Do any of you guys know how to sew? Well, for those of you who love to sew AND love vintage, I thought you might appreciate some of my favorites from Etsy of course:
1974 halter tops from TheBrightonEmporium.
1964 collared dresses from SewUniqueClassique.

1960's shift dress from finickyfinds.

1960's picnic dress from TheWayWeWear.

1970 drop waist dress from Flourisheshome.

1950's full circle dress from kdcollectibles.

1960 babydoll dress from TheWayWeWear.

1972 yoke flutter dress from newlifepatterns.

I love vintage patterns ♥

I've been so MIA...

lately! I've been putting my time to good use though. I've been making more jewelry, re-doing photos, and I had two large wedding orders placed over the weekend. Here's some updated photos of my jewelry. I decided to use some vintage lace so that the background doesn't look so plain and blah. I still need to take more photos though.
This necklace can be made with any color rose cabochon that I have available. Right now I have about 15 colors? I think. I'm ordering more anyways because I love cabochons!
I love huge oversized keys!

I always have fun making these because they are so simple, yet pretty.

Classic.
Love! This is just like the font from Jennifer Hudson's keychain from the "Sex and the City" movie. I think it's cuter as a necklace though.

These little charms just arrived in the mail the other day and I thought they would look great just as simple earrings. They are very thin and delicate. The whole design has been laser cut.

Which are your favorites? I'm probably going to do another giveaway in the next week or so. Any input of what you guys would like to see as a giveaway? I'd like to give the winner for options, so you guys can browse my shop and post suggestions in the comments.

Jewelry...love it ♥

Let me introduce...

you to Katie, the designer behind Morelle. Katie has her own website, http://www.morellehandbags.com/ and she also sells on etsy under the seller morelle. The talented Katie resides in Greece and has been sewing since she was 10 years old! She's been making these gorgeous handbags for the past 3 years. Katie has been kind enough to let us learn a little bit more about her life. Not only is she crafty and creative, she is generous and will be doing a giveaway to one lucky reader. Read the interview and see below what Katie will be giving away and how to enter.

1. Where are you from?
Preveza, Northwestern Greece

2. Are you currently living in that city?
Yes, I moved back almost a year ago after 10 years abroad.

3. Do you have kids? married?
No, but I've been in a relationship for 5 and a half years. We both want to wait a few more years before starting a family.

4. When did you first learn to sew?
I started sewing when I was about 10. I loved digging into my grandmas fabric scraps and making small things. The first thing I made was a pillow lace heart pillow which I was really proud off!

5. How long have you been making bags/purses/clutches?
Since I got my first sewing machine three years ago. It's not a long time ago but I have made an incredibly large volume of bags since then.

6. Is this your profession or hobby? If it's your hobby, what is your day time job?
It was my hobby but I was able to make into my profession. My favourite part of my job is making new styles which I still get to do on occassion :)

7. Do you sell in any retail stores or other online stores? Which ones?
I have sold to a couple of retail stores over the past year such as Bibelot in Calgary, Canada, Showpony in Seattle, US and Mukavan in Barcelona, Spain. I am also in the process of making my own shop here in Preveza, Greece where I will be selling my bags and maybe bags from other Greek designers.

8. Where do you get your ideas and inspirations from for your designs and color choices?
Inspiration comes to me at random throughout the year. I might see something I like and want to make that into a bag. I also try to stay on top of current fashion trends and try to incorporate these somehow to my styles. As for colors, it depends on what "speaks to me" when I make the selection. I also like to have variety and don't like using the same colors on different collections. I really believe that color is a fashion statement and it's always going to be an important element in my collections.

9. Aside from creating these gorgeous bags/purses/clutches, what do you do in your free time?
I love to cook and read up on food. I'm very into healthy eating and I try to make exciting healthy recipes. I also like to browse shoes online :) Believe it or not shoes is my real addiction!
10. What are your top 5 favorite etsy stores?
hollystalder.etsy.com
larimeloom.etsy.com
persephonevintage.etsy.com
consciousclothing.etsy.com
stephanieteague.etsy.com

11. What is the coolest place you've traveled to?
I have to say it's a small town in Norway called "Moss". It's really not the coolest place but the place I fell most in love with because of it's charm.

12. Do you have an embarassing moment you'd like to share with us?
Hmm, lots of those. But I think the most I felt embarrassed is when I was writing to my boyfriend a message telling him that our landlord is a pig and then sent it to my landlord by accident.
13. What is your all time favorite book?
That changes with time as I read a lot and I get excited about something new every time. I can say that some books that have stayed with me are "Light on Life" B.K.S Iyengar (about the philosophy of yoga), "War and Peace" by Tolstoy (you don't just read that book, you live it) and right now I'm reading a book on nutrition called "Healing with Whole Foods" which I consider the bible of healthy nutrition.

14. Do you have a blog? Can we find you on facebook? Twitter?
Yes!

Did everyone have a good...

weekend? Saturday started out sunny so I decided that it would be okay to wear flip flops. My friend from work just had his birthday and his fiancée's birthday was on Saturday, so they invited a bunch of friends for drinks at The Boathouse. The Boathouse is a restaurant right on the beach in Santa Barbara, literally. Too bad it wasn't sunny because we were all sitting outside. It started sprinkling and the staff covered our entire area with huge umbrellas. Then it started pouring like crazy and the restaurant gave us calamari rings and pork sliders on the house for toughing it out in the rain. That was nice of them. It wasn't such a good idea for flip flops and jeans that were too long because they just dipped in the puddles. On top of that, my really cute Parisian umbrella broke =( Time for a new one...

The other night my housemates...

and I watched "Coco Before Chanel." It was really inspiring because she built an empire from nothing. Her mother died when she was 12 and her father left shortly after to work. That left Coco to live in the orphanage of the Roman Catholic monastery of Aubazine for six years.

It was during those six years that she learned to sew. After she turned eighteen, she left the orphanage to be a cabaret singer in the Moulins with one of her sisters. While working in the Moulins, Coco met a young French textile heir, Etienne Balsan. She was not very fond of him at
first, but became his mistress soon after and lived with him in Paris. While living with Balsan, Coco designed hats as a hobby. Eventually she left Balsan and opened up a millinery shop where she sold raincoats and jackets in 1913. The shop didn't last and went out of business.
While she was with Balsan, she fell in love with his best friend, Arthur "Boy" Capel. "Boy" assisted Coco in acquiring property and the financial backing to open up her second millenery shop. Her hats were worn by many French actresses, which helped her establish a reputation.

She introduced sportswear at her second boutique and had her first aristocratic client. She later opened up her third and most successful shop where more and more women came to the realization that they could dress how they wanted. Coco incorporated dark colors and masculine silhouettes. What a determined, talented woman.

Thank you Coco Chanel ♥

Now I can't decide what...

to do with my girlytwoshoes etsy shop. I just sold a print last night from that store. I have only have 4 sales from that shop =(. I was debating whether or not to close up shop and reopen it and sell photography. Should I open ANOTHER shop just for photography? I definitely want to keep these separate from each other. Here are some of the prints I sell:

I love afros, doesn't everyone?

I sold this print last night, it's one of my favorites.

You'll only understand the humor in this print if you know the song by Kelis.

I think this one is hilarious. I have titled it "The truth about salsa." I am also selling prints titled "The truth about strawberries" and "The truth about peanuts."

It was love at first sight ♥

Wow, so many people have...

entered into my giveaway and started following my blog. This is really exciting for me! You know what that means? I think I will do a giveaway on a regular basis. Since I'm relatively new to the blogging world, I had no idea that so many people do giveaways of all sorts of things.

Lately I've been getting into photography. Before Christmas I didn't own a camera that I really liked, so I never took photos of anything. After my parents gave me one for Christmas, I started taking it everywhere. I'm thinking about turning my girlytwoshoes etsy shop into a photography one and selling pieces like these:

I took this photo in front of my friend's boss's house. She lives in an area that overlooks the beach in Santa Barbara.

I took this one a few weeks ago when I was leaving the animal shelter. I think these are magnolias, but I'm not positive.

This bush is actually right outside of my front door.

I went to the farmers' market and split the bunch into 2 jars. One was a salsa jar and one was a spaghetti jar. I got the vintage lace from an estate sale. I made the amour tags for my best friend's bridal shower. There were some leftover decorations that I kept.

This is also from my front yard.
I heart art ♥

I went to the thrift...

store today in search of a cute tea cup and saucer. I did this on my lunch break, so I didn't have enough time to find one. I wandered around the stores for a little bit and found this awesome vintage Hamilton Beach drink mixer. It was a mint green color and $11.91! I have no idea if it works or not, but I just love vintage and retro things! Here are some cool retro/vintage finds:
